ONE STEP AT A TIME

Find the weak link.

Use readings you enter yourself. The result explains what they suggest, what they do not prove, and what to try next.

THE CONNECTION CHECK

A clearer next step.
In a few inputs.

Enter your own speed-test results. We’ll explain what they suggest, what they don’t, and what to try next.

What’s happening at home?

For speed tests, use the same device and repeat at similar times with other downloads paused. Enter download speeds in Mbps.

Not sure how to get these readings?
  1. Use your provider’s speed test, or a test you already trust. This site does not run one.
  2. On the same device, record the download result beside the router, then in the problem room. Keep other downloads paused.
  3. Repeat the pair when you can. If you cannot test using Ethernet, leave that field empty.

Enter Mbps, not the MB/s shown by a file download. The contract minimum is the figure in your agreement, not the package’s advertised speed. Leave unknown values blank; enter 0 only for a real zero result.

How this check works

This is a rule-based triage aid, not a network scanner. A problem-room result below half of the router-side reading triggers coverage advice. That 50% threshold is an editorial heuristic, not an Ofcom standard. Results vary with device, time and load. Wired speed below a contract minimum triggers a repeat-test and provider-support route, not an automatic switching recommendation. Outages and single-device problems are handled before shopping advice.
