Privacy notice
This notice covers betterhomewifi.co.uk and its tools. Last updated 17 October 2026.
Who is responsible?
Mike Turnham trading as no bother is the controller for the personal information described here. Contact [email protected] to ask about privacy or exercise your rights.
Using the tools
The connection checks, test log and cost calculator run on your device. We do not receive your measurements, quotes or search inputs. We do not scan your network or request router passwords, postcodes or account numbers. Home-check inputs are saved in local storage only if you tick “Remember these inputs”. Clear them using the tool’s clear button or your browser controls. Test-log readings are held in the current page’s memory until you clear, refresh or close it; they are not automatically saved. Action-list, installer-brief, test-log and cost-comparison downloads remain wherever you save them.
Delivering and protecting the website
Cloudflare provides hosting and security. Your browser shares technical request information, including IP address, requested page and browser information, to deliver the site and help detect abuse. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in a secure and reliable website. Provider operational and security records follow Cloudflare’s applicable retention arrangements; we do not promise a fixed period for records we do not control.
Optional analytics
With consent, Google Analytics measures page visits and aggregate tool-completion or outbound affiliate-click events. It receives cookie identifiers, browser and device details, and technical connection information. We do not send tool measurements, search text, contact details or full query strings.
We use prior opt-in for analytics. Advertising storage, advertising personalisation and Google Signals are disabled in our tag configuration. Rejecting analytics does not limit the tools. Use “Cookie settings” in the footer to change or withdraw permission. Withdrawal stops future collection, removes accessible Analytics cookies and reloads the page if necessary. It does not undo earlier lawful processing or automatically delete information already collected. Google’s partner-sites explanation describes its processing. Analytics cookies, if enabled, expire after up to 180 days without rolling renewal. Consent choices are retained on your device for up to 180 days.
Contacting us
When you email us, we use your address, name and message to answer your enquiry, handle corrections or respond to a rights request. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to correspondence, taking requested steps before a contract where applicable, or complying with a legal obligation for statutory requests. Google Workspace supplies the no bother mailbox. Do not send router credentials or information we do not need. We do not add enquiries to a marketing list.
Retention
We review routine enquiries for deletion after 12 months from resolution, unless an ongoing relationship, dispute or legal requirement justifies keeping them longer. The configured Analytics property retains user-level and event-level data for two months; standard aggregated reports follow different retention rules. Cookie lifetime and server-side retention are different. Provider security records follow the relevant provider’s arrangements. Locally saved tool inputs remain until you clear them.
Recipients and international processing
Cloudflare and Google provide the services above and may process information outside the UK. Their applicable processing terms describe safeguards, including contractual transfer protections. You may request details from us. See Cloudflare’s DPA, Google Workspace’s terms and, when applicable, Google Analytics processing terms. We do not sell your tool inputs or email messages.
External and affiliate links
External websites apply their own privacy notices. Clicking an approved affiliate link may share a publisher identifier and visit information with a merchant or network for attribution. We do not embed affiliate tracking pixels or scripts on this site. Links that can earn commission are marked before you click; read our affiliate disclosure.
Your rights and complaints
Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or withdraw consent. Contact [email protected]. We do not use this site’s data for decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. We aim to respond to rights requests within the applicable statutory period.
