Approach choices, not a performance ranking
NeedApproach to investigate
One fixed desk or TVDirect Ethernet may be enough.
Wi-Fi in a room with a cableA wired access point; check power and management.
Several rooms and a unified systemCompatible mesh nodes with useful positions and supported wired backhaul.
No suitable cable or wireless pathSolve the route first; another box may inherit the same weak link.

Account for power and management

Our research candidates illustrate two setups. The referenced EAP610 V3 supports DC or PoE+ input and documents web management; some coordinated features require a controller. UniFi U6+ uses PoE input. Its standalone mobile-app mode has limits, including individual AP configuration and no centrally coordinated fast roaming.

EAP610 V3 has published support through 29 June 2029. UniFi U6+ remains research-held while its UK support period is checked. Match the seller package before buying. These are access points, not replacements for the broadband router. A plain non-PoE switch does not power them.

Keeping the provider hub

Check phone and TV requirements before replacing a router or changing modes. For mesh, confirm the access-point or bridge-mode features you need. A shared Wi-Fi name alone does not prove that unrelated devices form one managed mesh system.

The next useful comparison

Sketch where Ethernet and power are available, list the rooms needing Wi-Fi, and count fixed devices. Then compare the wired candidates and their requirements, or the two indoor mesh options Ad. The choice is about fit; we have not measured a speed winner.
