The useful difference is in the ports
Each unit has two 2.5G WAN/LAN ports. Budget for the upstream and wired node links before counting spare device sockets. Other equipment and the full link must support the intended rate; the port label does not promise room Wi-Fi or internet speed.
Two bands, not three
This is a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz system, without a 6 GHz radio. Compatible clients and placement still matter. The source specifications list router, access-point and AiMesh node modes; check which features remain available in your chosen mode.
Check the support window and exact box
ASUS’s UK table lists the indoor BD4 through 31 December 2028, with extensions possible. That is shorter than the published minimums recorded for our X50 revisions and eero 6+; compare support as well as ports. It is a minimum commitment, not proof updates stop on that date.
The UK specification lists one-, two- and three-pack model names. This page compares the model family, not a confirmed seller pack. Our earlier candidate retailer listing had inconsistent unit counts, so its paid link remains blocked. Do not confuse this model with BD4 Outdoor.

When another route is simpler
If existing equipment already meets your needs, keep it. If a fixed desk only needs Ethernet, a cable can be enough. For one wired room needing Wi-Fi, compare a standalone access point. For Gigabit mesh, compare port count and setup against X50 and eero 6+ before deciding.
